The 6 Most Iconic Kisses Of All Time

"A kiss is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous."

Growing up, we all had that moment when we saw a kiss somewhere and thought to ourselves "OMG I wish that would happen to me in real life!". Here we came up with a list of our 6 favourite iconic kisses that had our feet swept (only on behalf of the subject of course, haha!) and made our hearts do a little twirl~

1 | PRINCE CHARLES & PRINCESS DIANA

On July 29 1981, Prince Charles and Princess Diana headed to the Buckingham Palace after getting married at St. Paul's Cathedral, and displayed this iconic kiss for the crowds and cameras. There, a new royal wedding tradition of the balcony smooch was birthed!

2 | WORLD WAR II SOLDIER AND NURSE

On August 14 1945, Sailor George Mendonsa was out in New York Times Square when new of the war's end broke. Out of sheer jubilance, he spun Nurse Greta Zimmer Friedman, who was right there as well, around and kissed her. This kiss became so iconic because it captured the essence of pure relief and represented how people let go of their inhibitions.

3 | TITANIC'S JACK & ROSE

"Near..Far..Wherever you are..." I'm sure we all can belt out this tune because everything in the epic 1997 blockbuster Titanic is iconic, including this kiss between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet on the ship's bow. Until 2018, this smooch is still topping polls for best movie kiss of all time!

4 | SPIDERMAN & MARY JANE

Okay. Upside down kiss in the rain between a superhero and damsel in distress? This 2002 blockbuster kiss is definitely making it into our list!

5 | NOAH & ALLIE IN THE NOTEBOOK

Kissing in the rain scenes are nothing new to the cinema, but this one between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in 2004's The Notebook is one of the most iconic of its kind. We all know chemistry when we see it happening - and sure enough, the pair's chemistry is so real, they ended up dating in real life!

6 | HOLLY AND "FRED" IN BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S

So a few things are happening here at this moment in the classic 1961 rom-com. Audrey Hepburn (Holly) and Fred (George Peppard) found the lost cat, rain is pouring and they are soaked to the bone, and Holly finally realises her love for the man who stuck by her throughout! Who doesn't love a dramatic and romantic happily-ever-after kiss?

So there they are - our favourite 6 iconic kisses of all time! We probably can't always have these picture-perfect kisses in reality, but we sure have ways to make them better ;)
